Italian Representative Office VisaThe Italian Representative Office Visa enables representatives of foreign companies to receive permission to live in Italy by establishing a foreign “representative” office in Italy.
The sponsoring foreign company must be an active limited liability trading company with significant turnover located in one of the World Trade Organizaton Countries.
The initial duration for this visa is always 1 year. You can then renew this visa in 1 year increments and apply for permanent Italian residence after 5 years.
Four step Process
- Create representative office in Italy and register the office with the Italian Chamber of Commerce.
- Receive clearance from the Italian Department of Labor
- Receive clearance from the Italian Immigration Department
- Apply for the “special” self-employed visa as per article 40/22 of Decree 394/1999.
General Requirements for the Italian Representative Office Visa
- Original Passport with 6 months validity and 1 blank page
- Birth Certificate apostilled
- Criminal Record Clearance apostilled (from your country of legal residence).
- Proof of employment with the foreign company that established the representative office.
- Proof of affiliation between representative company and foreign company.
- Foreign company financials showing significant turnover and solvency.
Notes
- The representative’s spouse and children can as dependents under same visa category.
- No investment in Italy is required.
- The foreign company is exempt from Italian taxation but the foreign representative will become a tax resident should they spend more than six months in Italy.
- Not subject to Italian visa quota system ONLY in cases where the individual applies for the “special” self-employed visa as per article 40/22 of Decree 394/1999.
